Of the 42 articles discussing the design methodology 10 covered analysis and seven covered sample size. For cohort stepped wedge designs there was only one paper considering analysis and one considering sample size methods. Most trials employed either a GEE or mixed model approach to analysis (n = 77) but only 22 trials (22 %) estimated sample size in a way which accounted for the stepped wedge design that was subsequently used. Conclusions: Many studies which employ the stepped wedge design have few clusters but use methods of analysis which may require more clusters for unbiased and efficient intervention effect estimates. There is the need for research on the minimum number of clusters required for both types of stepped wedge design. Researchers should distinguish in the sample size calculation between cohort and cross sectional stepped wedge designs. Further research is needed on the effect of adjusting for the potential confounding of time on the study power.]]> Wed 11 Apr 2018 11:00:00 AEST ]]> Identifying pregnant women at risk of poor birth outcomes https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:7288 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:42:11 AEDT ]]> Food groups and risk of forearm fractures in postmenopausal women in Chengdu, China https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:8227 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:40:40 AEDT ]]> Quality of life research: is there a difference in output between the major cancer types? https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:9620 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:35:27 AEDT ]]> Chronic Chlamydia pneumoniae infection may promote coronary artery disease in humans through enhancing secretion of interleukin-4 https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:1055 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:32:15 AEDT ]]> Quality of life research: types of publication output over time for cancer patients, a systematic review https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:11021 Sat 24 Mar 2018 08:07:28 AEDT ]]> Death, dependency and health status 90 days following hospital admission for acute stroke in NSW https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:16968 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:55:25 AEDT ]]> Factors associated with haemoglobin concentration among Timor-Leste children aged 6-59 months https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:5440 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:48:15 AEDT ]]>
